Black and Gold Bumblebee (Bombus auricomus) visits White Wild Indigo (Baptisia alba, a Wisconsin native wildflower) at Pheasant Branch Conservancy. This was the largest bumblebee I have ever seen, about the size of an old 50-cent piece (or a modern dollar coin). Photo from Wednesday, May 31, 2023 in Middleton, Wisconsin. (Thanks to Chad and Judy for identifying the bee!)
