At this sign I took an immediate right on the small trail that leads into the gorge. Then I followed the gorge down to the river and went left along the difficult hillside path to find the orchids. It was not clear if that trail loops back, and it was getting treacherous; so I doubled back. Looking at the upper corner map now (ha ha), I see that I completely ignored the trails on the trail map.
