White Wild Indigo (Baptisia alba) is a native Wisconsin wildflower. The purple-green stems of young plants remind me of asparagus, somehow, especially the way the green buds bunch up at the ends. Wild Indigo, however, is much taller, and the young plants look like small trees. Indigo is in the pea family (Fabaceae).
